RONDA & SURROUNDINGS
Between breathtaking heights, history and Andalusian light

Just a few kilometres from Montejaque, Ronda rises dramatically above the Tajo Gorge in a spectacular setting.
Its Puente Nuevo connects the two sides of the city high above the gorge. Narrow streets, historic palaces and viewpoints complete the experience of discovering one of Andalusia’s most iconic towns.
THE BULLRING OF RONDA
An iconic monument reflecting the history and traditions of Ronda.
Around Ronda
Beyond the Tajo Gorge, Ronda opens onto a vast landscape of mountains, olive groves and countryside.

Cueva del Gato
WATER, ROCK AND WILD NATURE

Close to Montejaque, the Cueva del Gato and Hundidero are the spectacular resurgence of the Guadares River after its underground journey through the Hundidero-Gato cave system. At the foot of the immense cavern, water and rock combine to create one of the most remarkable natural landscapes in the surrounding area.

THE SIERRA ON YOUR DOORSTEP
HIKING, KARST LANDSCAPES AND WIDE-OPEN SPACES
From Montejaque, the Sierra de Grazalema is almost immediately accessible to walkers. Trails, limestone landscapes, valleys and wide-open spaces offer the chance to discover unspoilt nature among olive trees, holm oaks and Mediterranean vegetation.
From gentle walks to more challenging routes, everyone can choose their own way to explore the Sierra.
WHITE VILLAGES & ANDALUSIAN ESCAPES
From village to village, the area around Montejaque reveals a different side of Andalusia at every turn: hilltop villages, cave houses, ancient fortresses, lakes and sweeping landscapes.

GRAZALEMA
In the heart of the Sierra, Grazalema is one of those white villages where the simple pleasures are often the best: wandering through its streets, enjoying a coffee in the square and admiring the whitewashed houses surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery.

ZAHARA DE LA SIERRA
Perched above its turquoise lake, Zahara de la Sierra offers one of the most spectacular panoramas in the region. Its narrow streets climb towards the remains of the fortress overlooking the village.

SETENIL DE LAS BODEGAS
Here, the rock does not simply surround the village: it becomes part of the houses themselves. The famous Cuevas del Sol and Cuevas de la Sombra streets offer a particularly unique and memorable walk.

OLVERA & LA VÍA VERDE
Dominated by its castle and church, Olvera is also an excellent starting point for exploring the Vía Verde de la Sierra, on foot or by bicycle, through rural landscapes, tunnels and viaducts.
